HIV and women question?

Question by loves_board_games: HIV and women question?
I was the victim of rape last on Saturday. It was bad. We had talked briefly at a party and then as I was walking to the bathroom he forced me in and forced me to have sex. It is about the riskiest situation possible. He’s black and from NYC. I’d never met him before this encounter. I was on my period. He didn’t use a condom even though I begged him to. I was a bloody mess and he is now hopefully already in jail. Anyway, my question is this… I’m of course feeling like I’m marked for death. I googled “women contracting hiv with one exposure” and the other risk factors. The info I’m getting is basically that I definitely have it. But strangely enough, when I googled “rape and hiv statistics” the info I’m getting is that the chances of contracting hiv from rape are extremely low. Are they trying to make the promiscuous women so scared they’ll be more careful or are they trying to calm rape victims since they can’t do anything to stop it? What are the actual facts?
If I’m infected it won’t show up on a test for several weeks. I just want to know how worried to be until then and which information is correct.
african american is a risk factor. being from a major city is another risk factor. It wasn’t my idea to make it that way.

Do you know if he is infected, that is the only way you can. Most rapist use condoms these days to avoid DNA evidence. My heart goes out to you, I hope that guy gets raped in prison
