My mom quit smoking and now after 7 months is smoking again. What can I do?

Question by damon1570: My mom quit smoking and now after 7 months is smoking again. What can I do?
I, and my mom’s boyfriend, got her to quit smoking on Christmas Day. She used “CHANTIX” and it worked and she was very happy with the results. She had like an emotional breakdown today and said “I just want you to know that I’ve been smoking for about the past month. I don’t want to hide it anymore. I’ve put on about 30 pounds. I’m 50 years old and I can do whatever I want.”

It just makes me sooooo mad that after 6 or 7 months she is QUITTING. It just shows everyone around her that quitting smoking is too hard and she’s giving up. It also makes me really mad that she was secretely doing it behind my back. (I’m her son by the way). I told her that I want her to see my children and she just laughed like she will be around for a long time. (She’s 50 and she has been smoking since she was about 20 years old. She looks absolutely fine though.)

What can I do/tell her to make her realize she needs to stop smoking? I don’t want her to smoke anymore.
