Should I go to my Adoptive Sister’s Intervention?

Question by Selina: Should I go to my Adoptive Sister’s Intervention?
I know it seems like a no brainer but, I haven’t spoken to my family in almost 8 years. It was a number of thing but, my mother was a pushy one to say the least, never allowing her children to be their own person. Anyway, today I received a call from my niece asking me to return home for her mother’s intervention for alcohol abuse.

She said that no other family memeber even mentioned inviting me to come but, she says it is important to have the entire family together. I was unaware my adoptive sister had an alcohol problem until today. I’m also worried that my sudden and surprise return will just make things worse. So, should I go or just stay where I am?

Well as I see it, this is for your sister. This is not about you and your mom’s relationship, that is something that will have to wait. If you care for your sister and want to see her get better, then I say go.
