Caffeine before stress / treadmill test… skewed results?
Question by cv7713: Caffeine before stress / treadmill test… skewed results?
I was scheduled to have a stress test this afternoon. So I woke up, had a cup of coffee, did my P90x routine, then had a recovery shake. After my workout, the doctor called and asked if I could come in now because they had an opening.
Well I went and the doctor said my heart was not functioning at 100% as it should be. He asked if I drink alcohol (NO), cocaine (NO), or had the flu recently (NO). Anyways, he said I should have some more tests done.
I forgot to mention to him I had the shake and coffee because I was never told to avoid them. Could the coffee, shake, or excercise caused inaccurate results?

We have always told our patients not to drink caffeine for 24 hours before a stress test..because it can cause false results on it…And in my opinion if you can do P90x I can’t imagine anything being wrong with your heart..I just got P90x and I was having heart palpitations after the warm up and stretches..lol
