Maintaining Control ( PART 2 of 5 ) DRUGS: Focusing on Fort Pierce 1987
Covering the streets of Fort Pierce Police Officer Stacy Moran hosts a segment called “Maintaining Control” which was put together by Stacy with the assistance of WTVX in Fort Pierce with clips from large cities around the country. This video focuses on the use of crack cocaine (rock) that became rampant in the mid eighties. Before that, crack was unheard of in the Fort Pierce area but gained momentum soon after being introduced. Law Enforcement attempts to maintain or even gain control of the drug trade in our area. This video shows how undercover street units work in our area including the Saint Luice County Sheriff’s Department Tactical Team. Interview with crack users. Officers have found that it usually takes about five or six arrests before they do any jail time. Four hundred drug charge arrests in eleven months in Fort Pierce, from February to November with 50 search and seizure warrants. This area or any other area in the United States will never become drug-free, so enforcement will continue.
