1 year clean and sober gift ideas please?
Question by Penelope: 1 year clean and sober gift ideas please?
Our son who “partied hard” for a few months, asked for help and checked into a rehab for 60 days then moved into a sober living home – 1/2 way house, whatever you want to label it. All his choice, get rid of the old “friends”, etc.
He’s now called on to speak all over the place, co-running the house, and back in college while working full time.
Although during his “party days” he did the usual things, stole from us, lied, broke our hearts, lost our trust – we are forgiving and loving parents and very proud of him and trusting slowly again.
Question for those who have been there done that – his one year anniversary for his new life is near. What, besides praying for his continued health – can we do for him to celebrate his new journey? Any gift ideas? Any celebratory things we could do as his parents to not only tell him, but show him how proud we are that HE got his life back on the right track?

I think the most important gift you could give is your continued love and support. The one year anniversary is a big deal, but keep in mind it is just another day of sobriety. He is probably grateful he’s been given a second chance with his life and if you really wanted to do something special, take him out to dinner or something that you can share with him. Don’t just give him a random material object do something together that is nice and easy.
Mens sober living teaches you all about appreciating the good things you have and your loved ones.
