Is my best friends father verbally abusive?

Question by Olivia: Is my best friends father verbally abusive?
My best friend is a cutter and has depression. I’m very worried about her. Anyway, her parents are divorced because he mother couldn’t handle the fathers constant yelling. These are a few of the things her father does, and was wondering if he is verbally abusive.

-Her mother said he was verbally abusive.
-My best friends brothers moved in with their mom a few years back, because they couldn’t handle his “abuse”.
-If anything small happened, like dropping crumbs on the floor, he yells at my friend like crazy.
– He says things to her like, “If you didn’t say that, I wouldn’t yell.”
– Never apologies.
– Does things like buy her ice cream or do something nice after he blows up in her face instead of apologizing.
– Lies about her mother. ‘she cheated on me!” “She is a terrible parent!”
– says things like, “You don’t deserve a father like me! your an ungrateful child!”
– She cuts herself because of his yelling, but he dosent know. I’m the only person who knows. (She does it on her hips where nobody can see.)

I’m very worried. Please reply soon.

Yes, I think he is verbally abusive. I don’t agree with calling YOUR child ungreatful or saying they don’t deserve you. But that’s my opinion. 🙂 hope this helps!
