Fishers of Men (Part 1) AWESOME!

This is an awesome video created by Grassroot Films and produced by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to encourage vocations to the priesthood. If you’ve thought about being a priest, or you know someone who is thinking about it, or if you just want to know a little about what it means to be a Catholic priest, this is an excellent video to watch. It’s part of an overall program as listed on the USCCB website here: www.usccb.org

Does anyone know where I can download this version of tantum ergo that is at the beginning of this video?

  • cheesemonkey1990:

If so, go for it, I can not imagine a better way to live,I can not wait to begin my formation.

  • cheesemonkey1990:

Yeah, got that right, I have wanted to be a priest since I was 6 years old. There is no better way to live. I can not believe men are running away from that calling. Listen, I just published a video about the priesthood a few weeks ago, please chek it out and tell me what you think.

  • cheesemonkey1990:

Yonker! That’s their seminary friary. I that will be my second or third stop! I am hopefully making a vocation visit this summer, but I can not seem to be able to get ahold of them -_-

  • tdynetius:

@cheesemonkey1990 I know the CFR’s very well. When I studied, I stayed with them in Yonkers. Wonderful men! I thought of joining them too.

  • tdynetius:

@cheesemonkey1990 I am a priest… Diocesan.. Trust me, there is no joy greater than being a Priest at His service…

  • tdynetius:

May be you should speak to your pastor or your spiritual director. Priesthood is a wonderful vocation to serve Him!

  • cheesemonkey1990:

Oh lol then we are neighbors I live in Milwaukee Wisconsin. So Does the order just work in New York or all around the country?

  • cheesemonkey1990:

I think I heard about Fr Stan Fortuna and the work he did and I looked them up on the net and began liking them even more. No, I live in Illinios, about half way across the country from New York.

  • 79743618:

Wow. That souns great. How did you find out about them? Do you live in New york?

  • cheesemonkey1990:

apostlolate: of course. They are a small band of brothers out of the Bronx who dedicate their lives to direct, hands on service to the poor by street evangelization, abortion rescues, and managing homless shelters, soup kitchesns, clothing rooms, etc. They also use any means that does not break their strict code of povery to evangelize on a larger scale: books, music etc.

I did not know that Fr.Benedict Grochele founded an order. I don’t think I could be in a cloistered order as well. I need to be with the people. So what do the CFR’s do? are the an apostelate as well?

  • cheesemonkey1990:

very nice. As I have said, I know of a group I think in Wisconson or Minnesota. They sound great. yeah, I want to be a Franciscan, but as I have said I need more info on the FIs before I can be sure, If they are cloistered than NO WAY CFRs all the way. I think either way I will be a CFR. They were founded in 1987 by Fr. Benedict Grochele as well as one of the priests in THIS video, he is the only one in a habit, he was seen at 2:12 in the chapel. His name is Fr. Glenn Sudano.

The SCJs where founded by Venerable Fr. Leo John Dehon in France in the late 1800′s. If im right it was 1877. They are an apostelate. We cover alldiffrent ares of the church from working in parishes to sending missonaries to all different parts of the world. The basic idea for us is to “Bring the Kingdome of the Gospel of the Lord to earth.” When I visited them I instantly got the feeling of Home and belonging.

  • cheesemonkey1990:

Yeah, they show this at the retreat I go to also, they gave us all a copy for ourselves to keep, I watch it regularly to remind me that this is what I amcalled to.

  • cheesemonkey1990:

Got that right, I wish everyone who had a vocation to the priesthood were as zealous as you were about that call.

  • cheesemonkey1990:

A convert, welcome home! SCJs Yeah, i’ve heard of them, they do a lot of work with helping young people discover vocations. Best wishes to you! could you tell me a bit more about them and why you want to join them in a PM when you get a chance please. I want to be a Capuchin Franciscan of the Renewal. thinking about the Franciscan friars of the immaculate but I don’t know If I am aclled there, they are a bit more monastic (not fully, but semi monastic).

  • 79743618:

Im not one yet. Im joining Priests of the Sacred Heart (SCJ”s) and because the church has a two years waiting rule on converts to the Church. So this August I will hopfully be accepted and start my religous life.

  • cheesemonkey1990:

are you a seminarian? I was going to be one for the peoria diocese, but I feel a call to the Franciscan way of life, but it is a tough call between the CFRs and the FFIs. Anyway, God love you.

  • rrlee914:

  • 79743618:

I can’t wait until I become a priest. To be able to serve the Lord in such away is the greatest joy I think I will ever know.

  • srodcan:

Ver este video realmente lo inspira a uno, personalmente cada vez que lo veo me da muchos animos para seguir adelante

  • TheKorban:

God bless and uphold our Holy Men of Christ, may he strengthen them in a world that hates them.
