I am fighting a strong addiction to meth and desperately want to stay clean. Can anyone help?

My husband, fought a fifteen year addiction…and overcame it and has been clean for eight years….the ONLY way, is you need to find out WHY you are addicted, whay is it that you need to feel so good about? Are you not loved,…are you in great emotional pain? Why not give your life over to God and Jesus,…then, maybe the guilt of knowing that you are letting THEM down, and praying for strength to quit..will stop you..your body is your temple, and you must love yourself, and the creation that God made…Love Jesus, and pray, and They will give you the strength you need,…

In my area, there is a class every week for people getting off drugs such as meth. Medications are given that help you get through this, for free. See what clinics in your area offer free help and go to the classes, where everyone else is in the same boat. Support is a grand thing. Taking meds that reduce your ‘need’ for meth is highly important. Check you area clinics! It’s very important……………stay off the drug…………get the help. Congratulations for getting OFF the meth!

WELL i truely understand your pain you need to change your play things play places and playmates . ive been clean for two years and ten days . it will be a lonely battle so try and share the load with a good clean friend i had too move 2000 miles away from every one i knew you can do it stay strong …

man, you GOT to stay away from that crap, no matter who’s doing it with you or who’s around. the stuff leads to nowhere, so when you get clean, just know you will feel a lot better, mentally and emotionally. JUST KICK IT!

been there, done that. I went to 12 step program (NA) and it helpped a great deal. If you go try to filter out the BS and you will find a lot of good advise there.

and very simply….don’t use NO MATTER WHAT.

it took time to get addicted, it takes time to recover.

If I could do it, you can do it.

Dealing with any addiction is very hard. I have dealt with an eating disorder for 30 yrs. Even when I’m clean from the disorder it still creeps back in my mind. If the rehab isn’t working for you then you seriously need to do some soul searching to figure out what you want out of your life. Maybe try a naturalpathic direction, eg. Meditation, Yoga etc. The rehabs aren’t working and your asking for help. It’s time to make a life decision and PUT YOU BEFORE THE DRUG!! I wish you all the Peace and good luck in your life decision! Sorry to hear that you’re having a tough time. I understand the battle you are trying to fight. My ex and alot of my former friends were addicted to meth extremely bad. If they didn’t have it they were hell to be around, IF they decided to get out of bed. At one point in my life I was on it also, but not to the extreme that my ex was. I know so many people who have lost everything in their life to this drug. Homes, cars, land, life savings, spouses, all things material, and most importantly their health. It is so easy to get addicted to it, yet so hard to come off of.

I must say, I admire you for realizing and admitting that you have a problem and actually WANTING help. That’s a great first step. I’ts the most important thing you can do. Keep being honest with yourself. If you are on meth, I am assuming that you have friends who are, or at least know others on it too. Take a long hard look at them everytime you want to use more of it. This is what I did. I saw how bad they looked and all the things they done. I did not want people to be able to look at me and say I was like them.
I disassociated myself from ALL of those people. I recommend going to a doctor, (just a general practicioner, or family doctor) Tell him that you have a problem and need help. They can give you something for your nerves to help ease the misery of withdrawal and help your nerves. Even if you have to sleep for a month to get off the stuff, it’s worth it, trust me.
You can regain control of your life. You have to want to more than anything else in this world. Fight for it! Be strong. If it takes help from rehab or other meds prescribed by a doctor, then do it! Never be ashamed to ask people to help you. Your life is worth it. You have people who love you and I promise it is breaking their hearts to see you this way. Overcome the meth addiction for both yourself, and the people who love you. I wish you the very best of luck. Check out these sites below.

My husband has also struggled with meth addiction… the message board on the following site is GREAT:

The people on board are helpful, understanding, informative, insightful… it’s really a great mix.

There are recovering addicts, addicts who are trying to get clean, loved ones, and others who are somehow linked to the addiction.
